Upcoming Trips!

Howdy folks!

I haven't made my flight arrangements yet, but it looks like I'll be hitting the Floridian nation later this month! Southwest has six destinations in FL, so I'm going to see how many I can hit in a weekend.

A little further out on the travel horizon, I'm looking to hit Chicago in April, Denver in May, and Dallas in July. I'll keep you updated once I have flight info, but I welcome any early submissions about what I should do in my time at each of these places!

Maiden Voyage: Providence, RI (PVD)

That's right, folks! My first stop on the LUV train (metaphorically speaking...it's actually a plane) is the lovely, snowy town of Providence, Rhode Island!

I will be traveling with the wonderful cast & crew of Flight 1646 Friday morning, leaving out of BWI at 6:40am . . . jeez louise, I'm going to be up early on Friday . . . Anyway, this is a business trip, so I don't have much down time between when I'm working in Taunton, MA and when I have to hop back on a flight home Friday night (gotta love same day travel escapades). HOWEVER...

...I should have about two hours to kill before I have to get on my flight home. If you live/work/play in the PVD area and have a suggestion for something cool/memorable to do that takes 2 hours or less - BRING IT. I'm up for just about anything.

I'll be sure to post some pics and a recap of my adventure this weekend!

Bring on the LUV,
Kat

So this one time, in Baltimore...

First things first, if you couldn't tell from the title of this here blog, I LOVE SOUTHWEST AIRLINES. And because I love Southwest, I chose to respect their corporate branding initiatives and remove the word "love" from my vocab, henceforth replacing it with the word "LUV" (at least for the purposes of this blog). As such, please replace the aforementioned statement of affection with I LUV SOUTHWEST AIRLINES. Savvy? Sweet. So let's get started.

I'm not going to expound too much about myself, but let's just say that I'm a single(ish) young professional with a strong appreciation for a good corporate brand.

Target? LUV 'em.

Starbucks? Whatever did I do before we had triple venti lattes available on every corner?

Southwest Airlines. It's not just the attendants and pilots who are nicer, but the passengers too. When you fly Southwest, everyone is feelin' the LUV!

I have what some of my friends might tell you is an "obsessive" personality. I like to think of myself as being incredibly "Brand Loyal" (yeah, I know, I'm totally corporate). Anyway, call it what you like, but once I luv something - whether we're talking about a book, a store or an airline company - I become an unofficial cheerleader for whatever it is that I have fallen in luv with.

With that in mind, I am about to embark on my craziest expression of Brand LUV to date - I am going to make it my mission to visit each airport that Southwest provides service to, preferably arriving to said airport on one of those signature blue, red & orange 737's.

Obviously, such a mission does not come without cost. LUV is not free (no matter what Sheryl Crow tells us), but thankfully Southwest offers me their LUV at a reasonably low fare (that's what she said...hey-oh!). Ahem. So anyway...I will be spacing out my trips over the next 18-24 months. I'd love to hit every Southwest port in a year, but realistically...yeah, not gonna happen. Girl's gotta work too, ya know. Workin' girl...

AHEM.

So back to the point of this post. Oh! OK, so I will be posting my flight info for everyone as far in advance as I have it available. I would like to get some interaction on this here blog site, so I will be counting on you (and google) to tell me what I should be doing at each of my final destinations. I enjoy learning new things, volunteering, good food and rodeos.

I ESPECIALLY enjoy volunteering to try new things at rodeos that serve good food.

My home base is Washington DC, so I fly out of Baltimore (BWI) and Washington-Dulles (IAD) most frequently. Some of my Southwest travel is work related, so on those trips I will be limited on how much time I have to learn new things/volunteer/eat/rodeo. Just an FYI. Don't be offended if I visit Columbus, OH but don't have time to go to an OSU (Go Buckeyes!)game with you. O-H! (I-O!) ...it had to be done.

So anyway, please feel free to tell me what to do, where to go, who to see, and what to avoid. Traffic/travel tips are also appreciated.

Questions? Comments? Snide remarks? All are welcome here.

With LUV,
Kat

PS the subject line of this ridiculously long first post is in reference to my decision to make this huge LUV pilgrimage. I told the guy I was sitting next to on my flight back from Providence (PVD) of my plans to visit all the Southwest airports and he said something akin to "you need to get out more" and I was like, "I know! That's why I'm going to do this!" Anywho, he was a pretty cool seatmate. We were both wearing red and khaki, though we don't work for the same company. He works with the fancy cheeses (like Gruyere) for a company based out of Wisconsin. I know, predictable location, but the state does wonderfully sinfully amazing things with cheese.
